INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP AWARD

The Tuscaloosa Sister Cities Commission is seeking nominations for the Dean Paul Garner International Friendship Award for contributions to the improvement in international relations/friendship. The award is named for Paul Garner, longtime Dean and Dean Emeritus of the School of Business at the University of Alabama.  Dean Garner was a charter member of the Tuscaloosa Sister Cities program and remained a member until his death.  He is remembered for his tireless efforts to improve and maintain international relations over his lifetime.  Each year the Garner Award recognizes an individual or group that best exemplifies Dr. Garner’s contributions to improve international relations and friendships.  Former recipients of the award are UA professor Ed Moseley, Rainer Albright Jamison, Tom and Virginia Joiner, Tuscaloosa’s International Friends, Dr. Charles and Flora Barnes, Ron and Judith Sawyer, Mayor Alvin DuPont, and Dr. Malcom Portera and Koichi Yamane.
